What is a Double Glazed Window

Double glazed windows are insulated glass units (IGU). The IGU has several glass panes in the one window system. These are generally double glazed, that is, with two panes of glass. A still layer of gas or air and a spacer separate the glass panes in these systems.

Double glazed window benefits

Double glazed windows are effective at reducing both noise and heat. They work by creating a barrier that blocks sound waves and limits heat transfer. These windows typically consist of two panes of glass, each 3–8mm thick, separated by a layer of air or gas. This gap not only helps prevent heat loss and gain, but also adds protection against glass breakage. In some cases, double glazing can reduce noise levels by up to 10 dB. With their layered structure, double glazed windows offer excellent sound insulation and thermal efficiency. Depending on the design, they are rated between 90 dB and 110 dB for various applications.

Conclusion

Double glazed windows are a key factor in improving a home’s energy efficiency, particularly during the winter months. Since windows are one of the primary sources of heat loss, high-performance glazing is essential for reducing fuel usage and maintaining indoor comfort. Our double glazed window units are designed to meet these needs each unit is properly sealed and installed with high-efficiency insulation materials to minimize heat loss and enhance thermal performance. In addition, the glazing allows natural light to enter while reducing unwanted heat transfer, helping to keep homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Our difference is Quality in all that we do.  We’re delivering a custom-built revolution designed from the ground up for Australia’s coastal extremes!   Coming soon.. hemp insulated panels and Double entry, double fold out houses.

The differences between high-end folding houses and ordinary folding houses can be summarized as follows:

  • Installation: Both types of folding houses share the same installation method, being foldable for quick setup, making them equally convenient in that aspect.
  • Customization: High-end folding houses offer significantly more customization options than standard ones. Customers can personalize high-end models to achieve superior stability, structure, insulation, and warmth retention, resulting in a more robust and efficient product.
  • Material Thickness: High-end folding houses use thicker materials, providing increased durability and better performance. The standard folding house frame is 1.1mm thick, while the high-end version uses a 1.5mm thick frame. Additionally, the iron sheets used in the panels of high-end houses are 0.25mm thick, compared to the 0.18mm thickness of standard folding houses. This translates to better overall stability and heat insulation in high-end models.
  • Appearance: The high-end folding house has a more refined appearance, with smoother product lines and a more aesthetically pleasing design compared to the standard version.
  • Galvanization: Both types have galvanized frames, but the high-end folding house also uses galvanized panels. This makes the high-end model more resistant to rust due to external factors, enhancing its longevity.
  • Durability and Lifespan: The high-end folding house is built for more than 1,000 folding cycles, a benchmark difficult for many other suppliers to meet. It offers a longer service life and more durability compared to the standard folding house, which is expected to endure fewer folding cycles if required.
  • Waterproofing: The high-end folding house features a concave-convex slot design at the hinge of the profile, which provides permanent waterproofing, ensuring no leakage from wind, rain, or sand. This design eliminates the need for glued seals, which tend to degrade over time in standard folding houses and can still leave the structure prone to water leakage. The hinges of high-end models are made of 304 stainless steel, contributing to their superior longevity and overall durability.

In summary, the high-end folding house is more customizable, durable, efficient, and aesthetically refined, offering better insulation, waterproofing, and resistance to wear and rust compared to the standard folding house.
